Free Sudoku puzzles online
I love doing Sudoku puzzles — they keep the old grey matter ticking over and they’re just plain fun. However, the Sudoku puzzle books that you buy at the newsagents can be pretty pricey, and I feel guilty about all those trees being sacrificed for my puzzle addiction.
Of course, most daily newspapers and major magazines include Sudoku puzzles, but if you’re anything like me, you can’t stop at just doing one, so they don’t quite scratch the itch.
Plus, sometimes I feel like doing just a quick puzzles when I’ve got a few minutes spare, but other times I want a real cerebral workout, so I like to have access to multiple degrees of difficulty to satisfy my mood.
As always, the Internet provided the perfect solution: unlimited puzzles, multiple levels of difficulty and no need to print out the puzzles (unless you wish to), so I can stay true to my green principles.
After trying out dozens of sites, I found one that I really like: Web Sudoku.com. As well as providing literally millions of puzzles in four degrees of difficulty (easy, medium, hard and evil), it lets you check how you’re going as you do the puzzle and lets you know how the time you took to complete it compared to other online users.
If you’re new to Sudoku, the site has vide0 tutorials to get beginners up and running and help for intermediate players to take their game to the next level. If you get so good at Sudoku that even the ‘evil’ level holds no challenge for you, try the diabolical Samurai Sudoku puzzles by clicking on the Variations link — these are print only.
So fire up your favourite browser and head to the Web Sudoku site for a bit of fun and a brain workout.
