Random recipe suggestions

No idea what to cook for dinner tonight? Starved for culinary inspiration? Most of us have few tried and true family favourites that we whip up on a regular basis, almost on automatic pilot, and it usually takes visitors for dinner to send us racing to our recipe books for something new.

If that sounds like you and you’d like to put a bit of variety into the family meals, the Net can help. There are several recipe sites that let you enter the ingredients you have in your fridge and pantry to find recipes in their databases to suit what you have on hand.

However, here’s a site that will just give you a suggestion for dinner based on nothing other than that it’s yummy. The Random Recipe Generator service is a bit like Stumbleupon.com for cooks, producing a new recipe to try each time you refresh the page. So, if your first result doesn’t appeal, just reload until you find something you like the sound of.

It’s definitely not the most aesthetic of sites, but it’s a winner if you’ve got ‘cook’s block’.

Bon appetit!
