Free online travel diary

TravelPodHow many times have you gone on holidays and send a swag of postcards home to friends and relatives, only to find that the postcards didn’t arrive until long after you returned home?

Well, why not ditch the postcards and create a travel blog? That way, you can share so much more of your holiday  than ” Hi, having a great time. Wish you were here.” On a travel blog, the folks back home will be able to follow your holiday in near real time as you enter journal entries, upload photos and video.

One great site that will let you share your holiday experiences online is TravelPod. And best of all, you can do it all for free — no more springing for cheesy souvenir cards and postage stamps! But if you can’t find a free WiFi hotspot where you are, you may need to spring for a session at the local Internet cafe.

On TravelPod, you can upload unlimited video and photos and create multiple blogs for different trips. Blogs can be kept private (for a fee) and a list of email addresses for friends and family can be stored so they’re notified each time you make a post — they can even comment on your posts, so you can get a dialogue going — or you can share your adventures with the world by making your blog public. You can even include a map with your trip plotted on it.

If you’re thinking of taking a trip, but can’t decide where to, browsing the public blogs can be a real inspiration.
